Dr. William Blair was born in Pemeta, Oklahoma on July 30, 1922. He attended elementary, junior and senior high school, graduating in 1940 in the top 10% of his class in spite of considerable absences for health reasons. He had been diagnosed with bronchial asthma at the age of 9 months, and his parents tried every method of treatment with no results, including conventional chiropractic.

After graduation, he attended Oklahoma A&M College for 2 years. After graduation, he moved to Lubbock Texas as it was a more favorable climate for his health and was nearer to family. He met his wife and was married on July 20, 1946. It was his wife that introduced him to Upper Cervical Chiropractic.

Dr. Blair initiated Upper Cervical Care with Dr. Leon Halstead in Houston Texas on a referral from a family friend. He was evaluated, adjusted, told what to expect and sent home. He immediately noticed that he had less trouble breathing and he just generally felt better.

This change made him so enthusiastic that he wanted to help others as he had been helped. Since he had been primarily a salesman, a career that he did not relish, he wanted to immediately go to school to become a chiropractor. He then packed up his family and they moved to Davenport, Iowa to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic. After he graduated from Palmer, he moved back to Lubbock, and rented a small building which housed an office in front and a small apartment in the back. His practice started in December 24, 1949.

Throughout many years of research on over 3,000 cases, Dr. Blair developed the Blair Principle of Occipito-atlantal misalignment, new x-ray procedures for identifying Upper Cervical Subluxation, and a series of new adjustment procedures for increased effectiveness.
